Urgent Appeal: Defend our precious water from mining

Right now, water-guzzling, river-polluting mining projects are putting communities and ecosystems at risk.

Whether it’s Adani’s North Galilee Water Scheme in central Queensland or the McPhillamys Gold Mining Project in New South Wales, EDO is working on behalf of communities to protect our precious water.

The McPhillamys Gold Mining Project is a 15-year mining project that would leave a devastating 400-year legacy, opposed by our clients – a group of concerned farmers and community members. 

The mine and its tailings dam would sit on headwaters of the Belubula River and impact groundwater and surface water resources.   

Our lawyers are providing expert legal advice to the local community and will brief scientific experts to appear before the NSW Independent Planning Commission (IPC) on behalf of our clients, the Belubula Headwaters Protection Group. 

There is no resource more precious than fresh water, yet the mining industry is one of the biggest users of water in Australia.
