16,000,000 litres of water could be taken every year from the World Heritage-listed Springbrook rainforest in Queensland, potentially to be bottled in plastic and sold as “spring water”.
We’re going to court to defend Springbrook’s Gondwana rainforests and wildlife from groundwater mining, and we urgently need your help.
A water mining company wants to take water from an aquifer just 400m outside the World Heritage Area, potentially to sell for bottled spring water.
If left to flow, this water travels into the World Heritage rainforest, habitat for unique wildlife including lyrebirds and frogs. Just over 1km downstream from the proposed mining site it spills over the magnificent, iconic Twin Falls waterfall.
Gondwana rainforests shouldn’t be damaged so corporations can sell its precious water.
