The Environmental Defenders Office Ltd (EDO) welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the New South Wales Community Services Committee’s Inquiry into the private members Human Rights Bill 2025 (NSW) (Bill). EDO strongly supports the enactment of a comprehensive Human Rights Act in NSW. In this submission, EDO made 12 recommendations in support of the enactment of a comprehensive Human Rights Act and its articulation of specific rights, its imposition of specific duties, remedies and its operation and the establishment of a NSW Human Rights Commission.
