EDO’s submission on the NT Draft Surface Water Take – Wet Season Flows Policy and Draft Interference with a Waterway Guideline identifies that the draft policies fail reflect and implement the NT Government’s commitments under the National Water Initiative. Adoption of the draft policies risks locking in unsustainable levels of water extraction that would be difficult to unwind. EDO’s submission makes 15 recommendations for improving the draft policies but our overall position is that they are materially deficient and require a complete redraft followed by further public consultation.
