EDO welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback on the Government’s proposal to develop a
legislated framework to underpin a voluntary national biodiversity market (the biodiversity
market framework).

The biodiversity market framework is intended to facilitate investment in conservation and
restoration. In essence, it will establish a mechanism for landholders to be rewarded for
conservation action – by issuing certificates that can be sold on the private market to companies
wanting to invest in nature and enhance their environmental credentials.
