Environmental Defenders Office welcomes the opportunity to make a submission on the Electricity and Energy Sector Plan Discussion Paper. EDO supports the development of an Electricity and Energy Sector Plan as a means to reaching net zero. With energy accounting for around 85% of Australia’s net emissions in 2022-23, and electricity alone accounting for around a third of emissions, it is imperative that the Plan is ambitious, equitable, and brings down emissions as quickly as possible.
