EDO has made a submission to the 5-year review of the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM). The BAM is made under the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 (BC Act) as part of the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS). EDO has long-standing views that the BOS and the BAM do not align with best practice science-based biodiversity offsetting, permits an inappropriate level of variation, and does not contain the ecologically necessary limits to prevent extinctions.
