Environmental Defenders Office welcomes the opportunity to provide comment on the Tasmanian Planning Policies (TPPs). In doing so, EDO notes it has provided comments to the Tasmanian State Planning Office in November last year on a previous draft of the TPPs. While it is pleasing that some of the previous feedback provided by EDO and other community members in response to the draft TPPs has been taken on board by the Tasmanian Government, EDO considers that further work is required for the draft TPPs to meet the challenges we currently face.

The following submission responds to the TPPs addressing the following topics: Strengthening and clarification of the TPPs; the need for the TPPs to link to the State Policies; the need for implementation guidelines; Climate change and the TPPs; Aboriginal Cultural Heritage policy of the Cultural Heritage TPP; Sustainable development and the TPPs
