EDO welcomes the opportunity to comment on the draft Land Use Planning and Approvals (Amendment) Bill 2022 (‘Bill’). This Bill introduces amendments to the major projects assessment process. EDO supports the intent of a number of the amendments proposed in the Bill. However, on the whole, EDO considers that the changes proposed under this Bill will not improve the level of public participation in the major projects assessment process, nor will they increase the likelihood that ordinary people would understand it. In this submission, EDO provides detailed submissions and recommendations about the proposed changes.
