Amended timeframe for new Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Bill due to COVID-19

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage has advised that consultation on the draft Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Bill 2020 has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A final round of formal public consultation will be scheduled later this year, when current restrictions for travel and remote Aboriginal communities’ access are lifted, and prior to the legislation being introduced into Parliament.

Metropolitan Region Scheme for Canning

The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is seeking feedback on a proposal to amend the Metropolitan Region Scheme for Canning to reclassify land in Castledare Place from Urban zone to Parks and Recreation reserve. The Bush Forever site will also be rezoned from Parks and Recreation reserve to Urban zone.
