FYI: Amended timeframe for new Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Bill due to COVID-19

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage has advised that consultation on the draft Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Bill 2020 has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A final round of formal public consultation will be scheduled later this year, when current restrictions for travel and remote Aboriginal communities’ access are lifted, and prior to the legislation being introduced into Parliament.

The WAPC is seeking feedback on the draft Port Hedland West End Improvement Scheme. The final version will replace the Town of Port Hedland’s Local Planning Scheme as the statutory land use planning instrument over the West End area.

The WAPC is seeking feedback on the proposal to amend the Metropolitan Region Scheme for Cockburn. The amendment proposes to rezone approximately 31.93 ha of land in the Treeby locality from the Rural-Water Protection zone to the Urban zone and to rationalise Bush Forever site 390.

The Western Australia Planning Commission is seeking feedback on draft amendments to State Planning Policy 7.3 – Residential Design Codes: Volume 1. This interim review is part of the State government’s economic recovery response to COVID-19, which aims to make it easier to build new homes or carry out improvements.
