workshops
The EDO conducts
tailored workshops and forums for community and environment group members
around specific topics or issues, at little or no charge to attendees.
Currently on offer are Climate Law, VCAT
Planning & Environment Appeals, Biodiversity
Law and Native Vegetation workshops.
Community and environment
groups in greater Melbourne and regional Victoria are invited to partner
with the EDO and host workshops in their region, tailored to local needs.

From time to time,
the EDO also offers the opportunity to individuals to attend workshops
in the 60L Green Building in Carlton. These opportunities will be publicised
here and in our e-Bulletin. You can receive the free e-Bulletin by emailing

Both the Biodiversity
Law and Native Vegetation Law and Policy workshops include a set of
reference materials, packaged in a take-home folder.

Course in Climate Law
Training for
Community, Climate Action Groups and Individuals
This workshop introduces
climate law in Australia to community groups, climate action groups
and interested individuals.
Are you confused
about the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) proposed by the Commonwealth
Government?
As a community campaigner
for climate action, do you have questions about who you should be targeting
and what you should be asking for?
Come along to the
EDO's "Crash Course in Climate Law" to gain a better understanding
of the international and national legal frameworks proposed to combat
climate change.

EDO Biodiversity
Law training for community and environment groups
The focus of the
workshops is on biodiversity law and policy and topics will include:
- An overview of
Victorian and Commonwealth legislation such as the Flora and Fauna
Guarantee Act 1988 and the Environment Protection and Biodiversity
Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act);
- Consideration
of important processes such as nomination and listing, and preparation
of Action Statements and recovery plans;
- The protection
of habitat under Planning Schemes;
- Critical evaluation
of the operation of Victorian and Commonwealth legislation and needs
or opportunities for reform.

Vegetation Law and Policy
EDO Native Vegetation
Law and Policy training for community and environment groups
This workshop covers
a range of important topics such as net gain, offsets, clause 52.17,
overlays, the Native Vegetation Framework, conservation significance,
endangered species laws, and more.
