The Environmental Defenders Office (Qld) Inc. is a non-profit, non-government community legal centre working in the area of public interest planning and environment law. We are part of a national network of EDOs working to protect the environment in the public interest. EDO Qld has been helping people use the law to protect the environment since 1989.
EDO Qld advises and acts for individuals, community groups and conservation groups seeking to protect the environment in the public interest. However, due to our limited resources, EDO Qld cannot assist every group or individual who seeks help. Our advice and casework guidelines are available here.
EDO Qld takes an active role in environmental law reform and policy formation. We advocate proactively for law reform as well as contributing as a stakeholder in government consultation processes.
EDO Qld education program helps build the community's skills and knowledge aiming to empower citizens and to facilitate public participation in environmental decision making. We run workshops and produce Fact sheets and Bulletins. If you are interested in hosting a workshop in your region, please contact our office.
EDO Qld is driven and supported by its members. Our members gain insight to complex environmental issues while helping to influence Queensland's environment and its future in a positive, constructive manner.
EDO Qld receives base funding from the Commonwealth and State Community Legal Service Funding Programs and Queensland EPA project funding, but relies on donations to carry out public interest legal work.
If you want to provide feedback on EDO services, please send us an email.
