The mission of the EDO NSW is to assist the community in protecting the environment, through environmental law. As such, we are also committed to operating our office in an environmentally sustainable way.
We measure our carbon footprint annually using the methodology outlined in the EDO NSW Technical Factsheet: Measuring and reducing the greenhouse gas footprint of a small office. In calculating our carbon footprint we will include:
All work related travel by EDO NSW employees.
Emissions associated with office paper use and disposal, and paper used in EDO NSW publications.
Emissions associated with electricity use.
Emissions associated with waste disposal and recycling.
We also seek to manage and reduce our ecological and carbon footprint by:
Encouraging the use of public transport by staff and clients and offsetting travel emissions from 100% of office travel using car, taxi, long distance trains or planes.
Purchasing 100% GreenPower for the office.
Identifying areas where energy efficiency can be improved and incorporating these into operations.
Purchasing equipment and consumables with waste avoidance, closing the recycling loop and reduction of environmental impacts in mind.
Education of staff on how to reduce their ecological and carbon footprint in their homes and in the office.
