Funders

EDO-NQ receives recurrent base funding from the Commonwealth and State Community Legal Service Programs, and supplementary annual project funding from Queensland’s Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”)

EDO-NQ also relies on donations, particularly in relation to litigation expenses (barrister’s fee, expert report fees and the like).

Whilst EDO-NQ receives a majority of its annual funding from Government sources, EDO-NQ:

  • is an independent community legal centre which provides free independent legal advice on public interest environmental law matters; and
  • is not part of Government; and
  • does not provide any identifiable client or member details to any Government Department.

funded_gcbf_small.jpgEDO-NQ also wishes to acknowledge the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (“GCBF”) for their donations and grants over the years.  With GCBF’s generous donations and grants over the years, EDO-NQ has been able to do a number of things, including upgrading and updating this website, starting an environmental law library at our offices in Cairns, and upgrading and updating its computer system (both hardware and software) and replacing heavily worn our office furniture and other equipment.

EDO-NQ also receives support from time to time from grants given from the Legal Practitioners Interest on Trust Account Funds (“LPITAF”).  The objective of LPITAF grants is to provide general funding to individuals or organisations as ‘seed funding’ for initiatives that will provide benefit to Queenslanders.  LPITAF funding is provided for initiatives which will assist in advancing the law, improving communication and education in the law, or improving the community’s access to legal services.  EDO-NQ wishes to acknowledge LPITAF for current and previous funding grants.

EDO-NQ would like to express its thanks to the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency for their generous grant under the Conservation Organisations Funding Program.  The Queensland EPA’s grant is being used to help fund a second solicitor position with the EDO-NQ to maintain the excellent level of service (including legal advice and representation, community education and law reform) which it has become known for.  The EDO-NQ is appreciative of the kind support of Queensland’s EPA in this regard, and is proud to acknowledge it.

Thank you to all our funders/supporters for their assistance.  EDO-NQ receives base funding from the Commonwealth and State Community Legal Service Funding Programs but also relies on donations.
